The Blacklist has chosen Guiding Light alum Ron Raines (ex-Alan Spaulding) to replace Brian Dennehy, who passed away earlier this year, in the role of Dominic Wilkinson. The soap alum will also be appearing on an episode of HBO's upcoming series The Gilded Age.
Congratulations are in order for Guiding Light alum Ron Raines (ex-Alan Spaulding), who shared some really exciting news in a recent interview. The actor has been chosen as a recast for the character of Dominic Wilkinson on The Blacklist. The role was previously played by Brian Dennehy, who passed away in April of this year.
Raines shared news about his new primetime role on a recent episode of The Locher Room, where he reunited virtually with his former GL son, Ricky Paull Goldin (ex-Gus Aitoro). However, there is a slight catch to his The Blacklist role: due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NBC series has Raines on hold "for basically the month of October, but there's a clause somewhere in there and how they're going to do it. They're going to check us, and there's all these codes... it's all this stuff you have to do now. Which is fine with me, you know, as long as we can get back to production. But how they're going to shoot these things is going to be interesting. I'm very curious to discover that."
Raines also shares that he has also booked a guest spot on HBO's upcoming series The Gilded Age. Says the actor, "It takes place in 1883 and [it follows] the Astors, the Vanderbilts, the J.P. Morgans, all of Park Avenue. The writer is Julian Fellowes, who did Downton Abbey, and he wanted to make that the American Downton Abbey, if you will, you know, with the servants and the upstairs and the downstairs. I'm doing a guest spot on that one, where I'm playing a railroad baron. But I'm real excited about it."

The Blacklist is currently set to debut its eighth season on NBC on Friday, November 13. The Gilded Age was supposed to begin filming in March of 2020 but has been put on hold due to COVID-19; it is tentatively scheduled to begin filming sometime this autumn.
Raines starred on GL from 1986 to 2009. He briefly played the role of One Life to Live's Carl Peterson in 2013 before joining the web series Beacon Hill, where he has been starring as Senator William Preston since 2014.
