Former soap opera executive and writer Barbara Bloom has joined General Hospital as an outline writer.
General Hospital has made a behind-the-scenes change that could have some soap opera fans up in arms. The former CBS Daytime senior vice president will now be writing outlines for the ABC series, reports Daytime Confidential.
Bloom's last daytime stint didn't prove very popular with soap fans. She helped develop the Let's Make a Deal reboot that took the place of Guiding Light and was in charge when The Talk replaced As the World Turns. She was also responsible for promoting Lynn Marie Latham to head writer and executive producer of Y&R in 2006, another move that didn't sit very well with fans.

However, Bloom has a rich history with GH that could prove helpful for the ABC soap. After serving as an executive for One Life to Live in the mid-90s, she moved to the West Coast to begin supervising GH and served as head writer for the soap's spin-off, Port Charles.
