In a change of position, veteran Guiding Light actress Marj Dusay (Alexandra Spaulding) has announced that she has reconsidered her decision to exit the show when her contract expires later this year. As previously reported by Soap Central, Guiding Light execs have opted not to renew Dusay's contract."I will be recurring as long as that is possible and I am available," Dusay said in a statement. "I always feel very loyal to the character of Alex and to the fans. This may seem corny, but I have always felt that a character on a soap should show all sides of life: the good, the bad and the growth one goes [through] in life."In June, Dusay revealed that she would not continue on recurring status and instead focus on spending time with her grandchildren.Dusay returned to Guiding Light in December 2002. She appeared previously on the CBS soap from 1993 to 1996 and again in 1998 and 1999.Meanwhile, rumors persist that Dusay will reprise her role as Vanessa Bennett on ABC's All My Children, the soap she called home from 1999 to 2002. While very much a fan of Dusay's work, an ABC spokesperson states that there are no plans to have Dusay to return to AMC.
