There are a lot of rumors circulating about Billy Miller's (Jake Doe/Jason Morgan) future with General Hospital -- and his possible return to The Young and the Restless as Billy Abbott once his GH contract is over. But what's the truth?
Multiple Emmy winner Billy Miller (Jake Doe/Jason Morgan, General Hospital) is a hot discussion topic these days -- or rather, people are buzzing about where he'll be next year at this time. Many sources are speculating that Miller will be returning to The Young and the Restless as Billy Abbott once his General Hospital contract expires later this fall.
The Oklahoma native left Y&R in January 2014 to take on his GH role. He has been known as Jake Doe since he arrived in Port Charles last October. The reveal that Jake is actually Alan's son, Jason Morgan, has been building over the past year, and viewers are on pins and needles, waiting for the big moment to finally take place.
That means that if Miller is indeed planning to head back to Genoa City when his GH contract is up this October, the timing would be pretty bad. Fans who have patiently waited to see him play Jason would experience his exit just as the character makes an official comeback!
Meanwhile, Y&R fans would most likely be thrilled to see the actor return to the CBS soap. Since Miller's departure last year, two actors have tackled the role of Billy: David Tom reprised the role briefly before being replaced by Burgess Jenkins, who's been in the role since June 2014. Unfortunately, neither actor seems to have been able to capture the same lightning-in-a-bottle response from fans that Miller did, something that won Miller three Daytime Emmys.
This all comes several months after CBS executives reportedly swarmed Miller at this year's Daytime Emmys in an effort to get his ear so they could talk to him about returning to Y&R.
So what's the truth? Miller's one-year contract with General Hospital is coming to an end soon. Beyond that, the rest is merely speculation. Internet rumors are often far off the mark because anyone with a computer, tablet, or smart phone can start a rumbling. A similar rumor made the rounds earlier this year and ABC exec Nathan Varni called the rumblings "the internet at its best with made up rumors."
But on the other side of the coin, rumors of Miller joining General Hospital surfaced months before ABC officially announced he'd joined the show.
At this time, as is standard policy, neither General Hospital nor The Young and the Restless spokespersons have chosen to comment on the rumor.
