Scene-stealer Carly Hughes is headed to General Hospital

Sparks are about to fly in the courtroom as Carly Hughes steps in as Deception's legal eagle Elise.

The war between Deception and Tracy Quartermaine is about to take an exciting turn as Carly Hughes steps in to take the reins of Deception's uphill legal battle to determine who has the rights for the ambiguous must-have beauty product of the year known as the Deceptor. Hughes will play attorney Elise, and Elise will have her work cut out for her because she will be going up against legendary Jackson Montgomery (Walt Willey), who has a bombshell secret in his back pocket that could spell doom for the ladies at Deception.

If Hughes looks familiar, that's because she has an impressive rsum on both stage and television, and a well-earned reputation for stealing scenes. On Broadway, she starred as Velma Kelly in Chicago, Leading Player in Pippin, and a citizen of Whoville in Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

On television, Hughes played complex Angela in American Housewife, a woman who also happened to be the main character's legal counsel. Hughes also appeared in episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Insatiable, and Dynasty and she's done voice work for Baby Shark's Big Show!, Superkitties, and It's Pony. Additionally, she appeared in Lifetime's The Christmas Edition.

Lynn Herring who plays Lucy Coe, had nothing but praise for Ms. Hughes's performance in the courtroom. "She just played everything so well and is just so adorable and charming. She had to do so much legal jargon and she was brilliant," Herring told Soap Opera Digest. "She's got to come back," Herring added. Let's hope that Herring gets her wish.

Ms. Hughes is set to appear beginning the week of August 28, 2023.
