GH's Anthony Montgomery injured in scary accident

General Hospital's Anthony Montgomery (Andre Maddox) was slammed into a house during a frightening moment with his family.

General Hospital's Anthony Montgomery (Andre Maddox) is thankful to be alive after a scary incident with his family that left him injured.

The actor took to social media with an X-ray of his broken finger along with the caption: "So last Sunday, this happened. Short version: a wave slammed me into the base of a house. True story."

But the long version of Montgomery's story paints the picture of the truly frightening occasion. The actor was having fun at the beach with his nephew, his girlfriend, and her son when a curiosity to explore got the best of them.

"Decided to explore a cave-like outcropping on the other side of an exposed concrete base (and staircase we couldn't see) of one of the houses on the water's edge. Thought it was safe because we were there about 10 mins earlier," he writes. "Waves smashed harder and faster and trapped us at the base of the house. My girl and nephew made it safely on the steps. The youngest and I took the brunt of the force."

Montgomery continues: "He was tossed a little, slightly sprained ankle and scratches. I escaped with a lot of scratches and this fun little reminder. My girl didn't get a scratch on her (Thank God) and nephew just got a couple nicks. We're alive so we're blessed."

Not only is the actor lucky to have escaped with such a minor injury, but he's also lucky that the incident didn't affect his ability to play Andre. In fact, the actor was out with his GH castmates, celebrating daytime at an Emmy event not too long after.

Of course, fans of the actor shouldn't be too surprised that he's already back in action. Montgomery was sidelined last year due to a knee injury that brought him "new levels of pain" -- but he was able to rebound like a champ.
