GH's Rylan talks about Lulu's return

Is Lulu Spencer about to wake up, and will Emme Rylan be reprising the role?

Recently, rumors began to swirl that Lulu Spencer might soon wake up when Dante Falconeri (Dominique Zamprogna) took Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) to visit her mother at the long-term care facility where Lulu was sent after lapsing into a coma in December 2020. Lulu suffered a traumatic brain injury and cerebral edema during an explosion that destroyed the Floating Rib in November 2020. She was rushed into surgery, but the efforts to save her life left Lulu in a coma.

Word of Lulu's possible return grew loud enough to prompt Emme Rylan to address the possibility of a return to General Hospital in a series of posts on Instagram.

Initially, Rylan posted, "I am getting approximately one million messages asking if Lulu is waking up and...I don't want to ruin storyline ever. I am very much into the integrity of storylines, whether I'm in them or not. So, I've been putting it off and putting it off and putting off talking. Because I'm getting so many messages! I don't know what to say!"

Next, Rylan said, "So, basically, the bottom line, no matter what the Internet says, I have made it very clear to GH that I am always available to play Lulu should she ever want to wake up. It is my understanding that when they choose to wake her up, they would be calling me. That could always change. Who knows? But that is my understanding. When they want to wake her up, they will call me. That's as much as I know, and I have not heard from them."

Finally, Rylan returned to clear things up by explaining that she was not trying to "fuel a fire." She had simply been trying to avoid answering any questions directly, so as not to ruin anything for the viewers in the event that Lulu's health status was a cliffhanger on the show. Rylan also thanked her fans for their support, and she sent out her love to everyone.

Eagle-eyed fans who follow Rylan on social media noticed that the actress and her family have been spending time away from California. "I am still an actor. I have some things in the works for later should this strike [SAG-AFTRA/WGA ] ever end. Which it will," Rylan assured everyone. "Don [Money, her partner] and I, and the kids, have decided to do some traveling, just around the country, so you will notice that I am in lots of different places. You know, this strike has taken everything down right now, so we are gonna use this time to go see family that we haven't seen," Rylan shared.

According to Rylan, the travel bug hit because her family had gotten tired of sitting around the house. "Regardless what city you see me exploring and visiting, that does not mean that I am unavailable for GH or unavailable for any acting work," Rylan said. She made it clear that she is still very much available for work.

If the fervor of the rumors about Lulu waking up is anything to go by, viewers are eager for Lulu to return.
