Days of our Lives alum Charles Shaughnessy (ex-Shane Donovan) has joined General Hospital in a mystery role, which some fans suspect will be tied to the return of Holly Sutton (Emma Samms). But are they right?
Things are about to get very exciting in Port Charles. Actor Charles Shaughnessy, known for his roles as super spy Shane Donovan on Days of our Lives and Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield on The Nanny, is heading to General Hospital!
Details about Shaughnessy's role are still being kept under lock and key, but Soap Opera Digest reports that he has signed a contract with the ABC soap opera and will be making his debut in September.
As longtime GH fans know, this won't be Shaughnessy's first appearance on General Hospital; he popped onto the canvas for a short time in 1984 as Holly Sutton's (Emma Samms) cousin, Alistair Durban. Could he be reprising that character for a long-term stint that ties into the still-open storyline surrounding Holly, who was revealed to be alive last September via camera footage that showed her being held captive by a mystery person? Or has Shaughnessy signed on to a new role unconnected to Holly? Keep checking back to Soap Central for updates as they come!
