GH stars raise money for American Cancer Society

Julie Berman, Nancy Lee Grahn, and Lisa LoCicero lent their star power to a good cause. The trio of General Hospital stars took part in the Relay for Life, an event that raises money for the American Cancer Society.

Three of General Hospital's leading ladies took part in the third annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Hollywood. Emmy Award winners Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) and Julie Marie Berman (LuLu Spencer) were joined by daytime vet Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) as they opened the event that took place Saturday, July 30, at Helen Bernstein High School in Hollywood, CA.

"It is always a privilege to show up in any way for the American Cancer Society and their noble and tireless campaign to find the cure and prevention for all cancer," Grahn stated. "I show up in the name of all those who have battled this disease and specifically for my friend Doreen Schmitt who continues to beat the odds every day. Please join my team and relay for life, hope, and perfect health."

Grahn isn't the only GH star whose life has been affected by cancer.

"Cancer has affected many people in my life, and I'm proud to participate in an event that promotes hope and strength," Berman added.

"The American Cancer Society will always be a deeply meaningful group to me and my family as my mother, Bobbie, is a cancer survivor not once but twice, having been successfully treated for both malignant melanoma and stage 2 breast cancer," LoCicero offered. "We've been so grateful for the many years of research and hard work on the part of the American Cancer Society that go into every treatment protocol and touch every family's diagnosis experience in some way. Unfortunately, very few families will remain untouched by this disease. We truly are all in this fight together, and I couldn't be happier to be able to do my part!"

Relay For Life is the largest nonprofit fundraising event in the world. Donations made to Berman, Grahn, and LoCicero's "virtual" teams raised more than $3,000 for the American Cancer Society. To find a Relay in your area, visit relayforlife.org or call 800.227.2345.
