Lots of drama is on the horizon for General Hospital, which resumed production this week after going dark for its annual summer break.
It's lights, camera, and lots and lots of action over at General Hospital, where the ABC soap's crew and cast members are back to work after a short summer hiatus.
Executive producer Frank Valentini took to Twitter on July 26 to announce the show's return, sharing, "Excited to be back with the GH cast and crew!"
The EP also shared a selfie that he snapped just outside the studio near a 2006 commemorative plaque honoring the 25th anniversary of Luke and Laura's 1980s wedding. Could his photo location choice be a sign that something new is brewing for the iconic Spencer clan? Retired star Anthony Geary did recently return to acting, so anything is possible!

In addition to Valentini announcing GH's return, actress Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) also shared news of the soap's return by retweeting her boss's post with the exclamation, "We are excited to be back!"
Like the other network drama series, GH halts production for a few weeks each summer to give its cast and crew a much-deserved break, and this year, the stars of GH took advantage of their free time with lots of fun activities. For example, James Patrick Stuart (Valentin Cassadine) took an outdoorsy trip to the beautiful state of Idaho; Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos) went hiking in the Hollywood hills; Eden McCoy went boating and swimming at various places in California; Laura Wright (Carly) and her real-life boyfriend, Wes Ramsey (ex-Peter August), took a family trip to Colorado; Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne) spent time in France and Italy; and Finola Hughes took a trip back to her homeland of England.
And speaking of Laura Wright, the actress unfortunately caught COVID at the tail end of her summer vacation, leading many fans to wonder if GH would have to recast the role of Carly while she recovered. Fortunately, that won't be the case, with the actress sharing a poolside post this week that reads, "Just a couple more days of this before I head back to Port Charles."
