Former Guiding Light star Taye Diggs (ex-Adrian "Sugar" Hill) is heading to the primetime hit Empire in what's being described as a very Barack Obama-like role.
Season three of the insanely popular primetime drama Empire will be getting a very familiar daytime face.
Former Guiding Light star Taye Diggs (ex-Adrian "Sugar" Hill) has joined the series in the major recurring role of Angelo Dubois, a city councilman who comes from an affluent and respected NY family, TV Line reports.
"With his pedigree and a Harvard law diploma, Diggs' Angelo could have made a fortune in the private sector," the character description reads. " Instead, he is ruled by his sense of noblesse oblige, and focuses his energies on community organizing and local politics, inviting comparisons to Barack Obama."
Diggs, who will debut in his Empire role on Wednesday, September 21, currently stars in TNT's anthology, Murder in the First. Since leaving GL in 1997, the actor has starred in shows like Rosewood, The Good Wife, Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy, and Day Break.
