During a special Facebook live video, Steve Burton revealed that his surprise General Hospital return will be exciting -- and lengthy.
General Hospital fans who may be concerned that Steve Burton's upcoming return to the ABC soap will be a blink and you'll miss him affair can rest easy: the actor reveals that his time in Port Charles will be significant.
The actor took part in a special Facebook live chat with fans and promised, "I'll be there for a while."
He also filled viewers in on how his return to soap operas even happened. After all, many fans were surprised to hear the news of his return, because he chose to leave his GH role of Jason Morgan in 2012 after 21 years of playing the character, and he also left his recent role as The Young and the Restless' Dylan McAvoy to pursue non-soap-related projects. But his GH homecoming was rather serendipitous.

Burton shares that he was accidentally locked out of a building during this year's Daytime Emmy Awards (where he took home the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actor). As he was trying to get back in, agent Bobby Moses approached him.
"At the time, I wasn't necessarily looking for an agent," Burton shares. "But I haven't had an agent for years, so I figured, Okay maybe it's time to get an agent.'"
As it turned out, Moses has quite a strong relationship with ABC and GH because another of his clients happens to be Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).
"ABC called... they got to talking, and next thing I knew, I'm going back," the actor shares. "I'm going home. It's amazing. I can't wait. It's been my home for so long. It's like my family there. We're just really looking forward to reuniting and getting it on. I'm super excited."
Unfortunately, Burton wasn't able to share any details about whether or not he'll be playing the real Jason Morgan, someone who was perhaps given Jason's face, or something even more inventive. But he did say he'll be appearing on the canvas before you know it.
"I can't say anything about the story," he declares. "All I know is it's going to be real soon, and there's going to be a lot of surprises. So stay tuned. We're going to have a lot of fun!"
