For the second time in a month, a General Hospital contract player has opted to exit the show. Chloe Lanier, who earlier this year won a Daytime Emmy, will leave the show later this summer.
Recent Daytime Emmy winner Chloe Lanier (Nelle Benson) is leaving General Hospital. Lanier is said to be exiting GH so that she can focus on primetime and film projects.
Daytime Confidential first reported that Lanier declined to renew her contract with the ABC soap and will film her final scenes this week before General Hospital goes dark for its summer break.
Lanier first appeared on General Hospital in 2015 in flashbacks as a young Patricia Spencer. The response to Lanier's performance from fans and show execs was overwhelmingly positive, and Lanier was brought back the following year in the newly created role of Nelle.
General Hospital does not comment on contracts. It is unclear if GH will recast the role of Nelle at some point, but a show insider says that appears unlikely at this time.
