General Hospital gets a new timeslot

ABC confirms that General Hospital will air an hour earlier this fall. The time change was brought about by the addition of Katie Couric's talk show and the cancellation of The Revolution. The change begins on September 10.

ABC has confirmed that General Hospital will be airing in a new timeslot in most television markets starting this fall. The move became necessary due to the addition of Katie Couric's new talk show."Hey GHers! We're letting you know first -- beginning MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10th, we're moving into our new time slot at 2ET | 1PT/CT," the network announced on General Hospital's official Twitter account. The announcement ends months of speculation about where General Hospital would air in ABC's daytime lineup. Earlier this year, the network canceled the The Revolution, opening up the 2pm hour. The Revolution debuted in January 2012 as a "replacement" for One Life to Live, but the show's ratings have been subpar since its premiere.Couric's new talk show, which will debut the same day as GH's time shift, was promised General Hospital's current timeslot on most ABC stations across the country. However, Couric's self-titled show, Katie, is syndicated, and will not be airing on every ABC station.
