General Hospital's Cyrus Renault has been shipped off to a federal prison far away from Port Charles, bringing portrayer Jeff Kober's run on the ABC soap to an end.
The citizens of General Hospital's Port Charles have been under the thumb of villainous Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) for over a year now, but the nightmare finally appears to be over -- for now, anyway!
As fans of the ABC soap opera saw on the Wednesday, June 16, episode, Cyrus was transferred to a maximum-security prison in the Midwest (i.e. very far from Port Charles) to await his upcoming trial for crimes that include drug trafficking and shooting Curtis (Donnell Turner) during a frenzied hostage situation involving the mad man's sister, Laura (Genie Francis).
According to Soaps, the episode marked the end of Jeff Kober's run as Cyrus. However, GH being a soap and all, there is always a chance that Cyrus will be back, especially considering the fact that he is related to both Laura -- a legacy character -- and Martin (Michael E. Knight), who, accent aside, has quickly become a fan favorite.

Whether or not Cyrus will actually return (and, if so, when) remains to be seen, but his recent reign of terror will not soon be forgotten by the residents of Port Charles. In fact, GH dropped a hint during the June 16 episode that his menacing presence in the town might have a lasting impression on Laura. During the villain's final scene with his sister, he taunted that he was in Laura's head, and he'd reignited the darkness that existed there. He added that he couldn't wait to see what they both had in common...
Kober joined GH in early 2020 and was recently nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category for his work on the ABC drama. Some of his other credits include Falcon Crest, Big Dogs, NCIS: Los Angeles, Sons of Anarchy, New Girl, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
What do you think about Jeff Kober's time on GH coming to an end? What are your thoughts on the way the show's writers ushered Cyrus off the canvas? Would you like to see the baddie return some day?
