We finally find out just what Mac has been up to, as he returns to General Hospital this coming week.
Mac Scorpio has been MIA from our General Hospital screens since late last year, as veteran actor John J. York underwent treatment for blood cancer, including a stem cell transplant in December.
Felicia eventually explained that her husband was out of town on an important crime-fighting case but didn't give many specifics as to what Mac was doing and why he was gone for so long. On Wednesday, June 19, it looks like we will finally get some answers, as Mac returns to Port Charles to reunite with his family, which includes wife Felicia, stepdaughter Maxie, brother Robert, and his three grandchildren.
In September of 2023, York took to social media to explain why he was taking a break from the soap he had been a part of since 1991. He was suffering from myelodysplastic syndrome and multiple smoldering myeloma. He learned that he would need a stem cell transplant and was still looking for a donor at the time of his announcement. Thankfully, one was found within a matter of weeks.

In May, York returned to the GH set in time for ABC to dedicate the 61-year-old soap's soundstage with a special plaque. He was featured in the cast photos at the nurses' station, while the show publicized his return with some feel-good social media photos.
During Mac's absence, Felicia has been getting her feet wet as a GH patient advocate, while Maxie has grown closer to Damian Spinelli -- and they are thisclose to being a couple again. However, he still doesn't know that Cody is his son, so that's a secret that may be about to explode. With Sasha and Cody discussing that exact topic yesterday, it's a pretty good bet that Mac is about to learn how much Cody lied.
Are you glad Mac is back, and do you hope he's thrown right into some drama? How do you think Mac will react when he learns Cody's secret? We want to hear from you -- so drop your comments in the Comments section below, tweet about it on Twitter, share it on Facebook, or chat about it on our Message Boards.
