Gio's meeting with General Hospital's Trina could be the start of something new
General Hospital's Trina Robinson has been going through the motions of life, mourning her boyfriend Spencer Cassadine since February, but a chance meeting with the new boy in town at the Metro Court pool could give Trina a new friend for the summer and beyond.
Giovanni Mazza, who made his GH debut as Brook Lynn's cousin Gio Palmeri at her wedding to Harrison Chase in May, is happy that his character is becoming more enmeshed with Port Charles's younger crowd and described his first encounter with Tabyana Ali's Trina.
"My first encounter with Trina is when Josslyn introduces Gio to her," Mazza told Soap Opera Digest. "She is interested in who Gio is and wants to know more about him, just as he wants to know about her, and I think we'll develop a great connection on the show. I feel like there's so much that could happen and could blossom out of our relationship, and I'm excited to know where the story goes. As a fan of the show, I also want to know what's going to happen next!"

Mazza also has been enjoying his time getting to know Ali.
"It is just so much fun. We just clicked as friends and as people," he said. "She's such a cool person and so, so funny."
The actor and violinist is no stranger to large audiences, having played violin for a Chicago Bills halftime show back in 2015 when he was only nine. His mother learned about a kids' talent show via Facebook in which he could win free tickets. That one performance led to him playing for other NBA games, but when the pandemic hit in 2020, he chose to focus on acting.
He finally decided to move to L.A. to give professional acting a try. He quickly landed his GH role and was thrilled to learn the show wanted to capitalize on his violin skills.
"I was so excited when I found out that my character is also a violinist," he said. "I was like 'Gosh, this is perfect! I get to continue to play violin and also act!' It truly couldn't have been a better combo. I'm very hopeful to play more violin on the show. I hope the fans like it as much as I like playing because it's so much fun to bring the violin on set and play and especially to play in the dressing rooms."
