General Hospital star Johnny Wactor's family reveals details about his death

Johnny Wactor's family offers more information about the General Hospital actor's passing and what he meant to them.

The soap world is still reeling from the news about General Hospital star Johnny Wactor's murder, and now more details have been revealed about what happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25.

According to the Daily Mail, Wactor was leaving his job at a bar on West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street with a female co-worker at about 3:25 AM on Saturday. He spotted three men near his car and assumed he was being towed.

When he approached the men to talk to them, one pulled a gun out, so Wactor, who played Brando Corbin on GH from 2020 to 2022, stepped in front of his co-worker, and the man shot before all three of them fled the scene. The men were trying to steal the car's catalytic converter.

"We're Southern, born and raised, and we would never let a female walk to their car by herself," Wactor's brother Grant told the Daily Mail of his South Carolinian family. "He came across them and he thought his truck was being towed. So he said something to the guys, like, 'Hey, are you towing? And then once he turned around, he saw what was happening and he put his coworker behind him. And that's when they shot him."

Wactor's mother, Scarlett, expressed her family's grief to NBC News. "There is a huge hole in all of us, and there is no fixing that," she said.

She said that her son found his love for acting at a young age and moved out to Los Angeles to pursue a career as soon as he could. The family said he often took jobs in bars to make ends meet. Scarlett hoped that the digital record of her son's work would bring her comfort.

"I think that when I see Johnny on the videos and the recordings, I can only hope that he's doing that in heaven and enjoying it."
