GH's Ryan Carnes wants to meet you virtually

With his real-life fan event canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ryan Carnes (Lucas Barnes, General Hospital) is hosting a virtual meet and greet, instead.

Fans who are disappointed about not being able to meet Ryan Carnes (Lucas Barnes, General Hospital) via a fan event this spring or summer will be happy to hear that he has set up a fun alternative. He'll be hosting a virtual meet and greet at the end of May.

In a message to fans via Event Brite, Carnes shares his disappointment about having to cancel a fan gathering he was planning for April due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"In this unprecedented period, many of us are really craving connection. I know I am. I was in the process of organizing an in-person meet and greet in NYC that would have taken place in early April, around a show I was going to play there with Vanessa Silberman," he shares. "As I was planning the event, it became clear that it was best to hold off on an announcement until I could see more clearly how this was all going to play out. Quickly, I saw the writing on the wall, and I knew I would have to hold off."

He continues, "But... I really love seeing and connecting with you all, whether we've met before or if it's for the first time. Furthermore, it's become more apparent that many live events will continue to be rescheduled, postponed, or canceled altogether -- which is tragic because humanity thrives on personal connection and community. It's in that spirit that I decided to try something I've never done before -- host a virtual meet and greet."

Fans will need the ZOOM app on their smartphone or computer to take part in the 90 Q&A event, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, at 11AM PST/2PM PST. For tickets and more information, click here.

"Over 90 minutes, we'll share stories of our time in quarantine," Carnes writes. "I want to hear from all of you! How you've found solace, what you've been struggling with, etc. And, we'll also do a Q&A during which you'll have the opportunity to ask me questions that are on your mind!"

Ryan Carnes originally joined GH in 2004 after a slew of other actors had already played Lucas Barnes. His stint lasted a little over a year, and in 2005, he was replaced by Ben Hogestyn. Carnes stepped back into the role in 2013 and has been playing Lucas on-again, off-again since.
