Guiding Light alum Hayden Panettiere returns to the Scream film franchise

Guiding Light alum Hayden Panettiere is set to reprise her Scream 4 role as fan favorite Kirby Reed in the next installment of the film franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures have announced that Hayden Panettiere will be reprising the role of Kirby Reed (Scream 4) in the latest installment of the Scream franchise. Kirby is one of the four Ghostface killer survivors who leave Woodsboro behind to make a fresh new start. Further plot details are currently being kept under wraps. This will be Panettiere's first on-screen appearance since 2018.

Along with Panettiere, cast members Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega are also set to return to the film. The creative team behind the Scream reboot will also be returning. The screenplay will be cowritten by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, and the filmmaking collective Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet) will be directing.

Panettiere is best known to daytime audiences for her role as Sarah Roberts on ABC's One Life to Live and as Lizzie Spaulding on CBS' Guiding Light. After leaving the daytime world, she went on to star in NBC's Heroes and ABC/CMT's Nashville (with fellow daytime alum Jonathan Jackson), and the film Bring It On: All or Nothing.
