Another General Hospital Nurses Ball is right around the corner, and ABC is kicking things off with some official teasers sure to amp up the excitement.
Get ready to pop some champagne, because the countdown to General Hospital's Nurses Ball has officially begun. And with the exciting event on the verge of reality, ABC has dropped a few teaser tidbits viewers can look forward to in the weeks ahead.
"We are thrilled to be bringing back the Nurses' Ball this year and delighted to be working with Burt's Bees as our corporate sponsor," says Vicki Drummer, head of Current Series Programming, ABC, in a statement. "The Nurses' Ball brings awareness to AIDS research while giving our multi-talented cast a chance to showcase their vocal talents."

Says executive producer Frank Valentini: "This will be GH's 13th Nurses Ball, and each year our wonderful viewers have come to expect plenty of music, dance, glamour and of course an abundance of drama. This year will be extra special, as we'll have several tribute performances honoring the work of contemporary artists who have recently passed away, including David Bowie. There are a lot of amazing performances and special appearances in the works. You won't want to miss it!"
The fun episodes are scheduled to kick off on Monday, May 22, with Lynn Herring's Lucy once again playing host. But this year will be extra special -- or rather Extra special -- because Extra host Mario Lopez (ex-Dr. Christian Ramirez, The Bold and the Beautiful) will be on hand to host the fictional red carpet festivities alongside Michelle Stafford's Nina. As soap fans may know, Lopez is plenty ready for the role, having co-hosted this year's Daytime Emmy Awards alongside The Talk's Sheryl Underwood.
What do you think about the plans GH has made for this year's Nurses Ball? What is your opinion on Mario Lopez being named as co-host for the event? We want to hear from you -- so drop your comments in the Comments section below, tweet about it on Twitter, share it on Facebook, or chat about it on our Message Boards.
