General Hospital made a serious splash this week with the grand return of its former Nurses Ball. Not only did Alicia Leigh Willis make a surprise return as Spencer Cassadine's mom, Courtney Matthews, but all of the event's glitzy ball gowns and music numbers made returns, as well. And fortunately for fans, ABC30 Action News was allowed backstage to film the magic as it happened.
"The Nurses Ball is probably the biggest three-day event that we do throughout the year," says director and executive producer Frank Valentini. "Obviously, with the music and the dancing and choreography and all the big story reveals that usually happen during the Nurses Ball, it makes it probably one of the hardest things we do all year long."
Adds Ryan Carnes (Lucas Jones): "None of us are dancers. We just get up there and do our best and kind of make fools of ourselves and laugh at ourselves and hope that somebody out there in the audience gets some enjoyment out of it."
