Rick Springfield arrested for DUI

Musician-turned-actor Rick Springfield was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Los Angeles over the weekend. Springfield appeared on General Hospital in the 1980s, and most recently reprised the role in 2008.

Rick Springfield (ex-Noah Drake) was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles the evening of May 1, 2011.

Springfield was pulled over by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department around 8:00 p.m. after his 1963 Corvette was spotted speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway. When officers approached Springfield's vehicle, they reportedly smelled alcohol and asked Springfield to perform several field sobriety tests. Citing police sources, the celebrity tattle site, TMZ, reports that several Breathalyzer tests were performed on the scene, which put the actor/singer's blood alcohol content at .10, over California's legal limit of .08.

Springfield was arrested and later released after posting $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 5.

The Australian-born star had a worldwide hit in 1981 with "Jessie's Girl." He played Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital from 1981 to 1983. He reprised the role several times beginning in 2005. His most recent appearance was in September 2008.

He has currently been promoting his autobiography Late, Late At Night.
