After recuperating from back surgery, General Hospital star Nancy Lee Grahn has returned to work as Alexis Davis, and the actress has a special message for fans -- as well as her temporary replacement, Stephanie Erb.
General Hospital fans who are desperate to see Nancy Lee Grahn back in the role of Alexis Davis will be thrilled to know that it will be happening soon! The actress had to take time off in March to undergo back surgery due to a cyst on her nerve, but she shared on Instagram that she has returned to the GH set.
"Today was the first day I was back at General Hospital," she announced in a video posted the evening of April 27. "Really fun. It was, I think, the longest I have been off of work since I've worked in daytime. Pretty crazy."
But what was really crazy, she adds, "is that when I was a young gal, I had a huge crush on Trapper John, M.D., and today I had all my scenes with him. It was really fun."

Obviously, there isn't a character named Trapper John in Port Charles -- the person Grahn is referencing is Gregory Harrison (Gregory Chase). The actor starred on Trapper John, M.D. back in the late 70s and early 80s as Dr. George Alonzo 'Gonzo' Gates, opposite actor Pernell Roberts as the series' title character.
In conclusion, Grahn gave a shout-out to the actress who jumped in to play Alexis while she was sidelined with an important medical procedure.
"Thank you, Stephanie Erb, very much for filling in for me. It's much appreciated," she shared, adding, "I didn't get to meet you, but I hope I do soon."
