Brandon Barash's exit from GH 'not happening'

Rumors have been floating around the Internet over the past few days, suggesting that Brandon Barash is leaving General Hospital. When the actor didn't know what to tell fans, the show's executive producer stepped in to explain things. Barash joined GH in 2007.

Over the past few days, the Internet has been abuzz with reports that Brandon Barash (Johnny Zacchara) would soon be bidding farewell to General Hospital. The speculation seemingly stemmed from reports that a major General Hospital character would soon be meeting an untimely demise. Things really heated up when Barash revealed that he didn't know what the future held for him and his alter ego.

"No idea if I'm being written off peeps," Barash admitted on Twitter. "@KellySullivanNY (Kate Howard) is being a good friend and scene partner. That being said, I accept any hand I'm dealt."

After Barash made the surprising admission, the Internet chatter became even more frenzied -- so much so that GH's executive producer, Frank Valentini, decided to weigh in on the discussion.

"Hey, what's with all these rumors about Brandon Barash leaving? NOT HAPPENING," Valentini posted on Twitter.

Still, there are skeptics who believe that Barash is leaving the show, and that Valentini's Twitter proclamation is an attempt to do damage control to prevent further storyline information from being leaked.

Barash joined General Hospital in September 2007.
