All My Children alum Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) is finally opening up about the huge news that he has joined General Hospital, sharing that he feels "like a kid on Christmas."
ABC Daytime fans have been anxiously awaiting further details on the super exciting news that longtime All My Children star Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) has joined General Hospital. While there are still no hints about who the actor will be playing when he shows up in Port Charles, Mathison has revealed that fans can look forward to seeing his GH debut this summer in a role that sounds like it'll be recurring.
The actor, who has been co-hosting the recently canceled Hallmark talk show Home & Family since 2018, took to Instagram to share his gratitude to GH's executive producer, Frank Valentini, for bringing him back into the soap opera fold.
"Almost 10 years after All My Children went off the air I am so excited to be joining General Hospital this summer! I was a member of the abc family for over 15 years and soon I'll be back," he wrote. "Incredibly grateful to Frank Valentini and the writers at GH for including me on such an iconic show."

The actor assures fans that though he has joined GH, he will still have time for other projects, particularly projects connected to Hallmark. "I feel like a kid on Christmas, as I'll also continue making Hallmark movies and continue to be part of that family as well," he says. "So excited... thank you!!!!"
In addition to sharing his excitement about GH on Instagram, Mathison granted a video interview to ET Canada in which he expresses his enthusiasm about returning to soaps.
"I'm super excited," he shares, adding that daytime serials like General Hospital and All My Children -- where he starred as Ryan from 1998 to 2011 -- have historically offered fans a daily escape from reality. "There's always the drama and the wild storylines and the this and the that, but it's the everyday escape for people, and they can just kind of forget the madness that, you know, we all have in our lives and just kind of get lost. And so, I'm really excited!"
During Mathison's thirteen years in Pine Valley, he earned two Outstanding Supporting Actor nominations at the Daytime Emmy Awards, in 2002 and 2005. He also had on-screen romances with several of the soap's leading ladies, including Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca ).
Mathison joined Hallmark Channel's Home & Family in 2018 as a replacement for Mark Steines opposite co-host Debbie Matenopoulos. He also previously served as a feature correspondent for Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, and Extra. He also co-hosted the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
