Former General Hospital star Ryan Paevey may be leaving acting behind

Ryan Paevey found a new Hollywood life when he left General Hospital in 2018, but now he may want to leave show biz for good.

General Hospital fans were crushed when Ryan Paevey departed the soap six years ago after signing a deal with Hallmark to make more romantic movies. Since then, Paevey has starred in quite a few movies for Hallmark, including Marrying Mr. Darcy, Christmas at the Plaza, Hope at Christmas, and From Friend to Fianc.

In the last year or so, he hasn't made very many Hallmark flicks at all, with his last one being 2023's Under the Christmas Sky. The lack of acting projects has left Paevey a bit disillusioned with the business, as he explained to fans his absence from their screens.

One fan asked him about a potential movie he had spoken about, and Paevey admitted it never came to fruition.

"Sadly no word of a film," Paevey wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter.) "I may take 2024 off from filming unless the project is with friends. The last 8 months of life in this industry have left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth, and I need some time away from a world so full of fake friends and empty promises. I'm weary."

However, in his next reply, he was optimistic about what life had to offer outside of acting. Still, he longed for the benefits a steady job could bring.

"Oh, it's all right. I had a great run. I like my simple life in my shop, helping little bro, and frequent surfs," he tweeted. "I have much to be grateful for, I'll figure out a way to stay afloat without acting income...who knows, maybe a film will come along. Insurance would be nice, haha."

Of course, Paevey is not ruling out acting altogether, as he clarified in another tweet.

"I mean, I'd like to think the powers that be know I'd happily do another film if they wanted me to," he said. "But I don't know anymore...so I'm just gonna do life, and make plans, and work...and whatever happens happens."

In the meantime, the actor has kept himself busy with his handmade jewelry business, Fortunate Wanderer. Paevey makes the jewelry, boxes orders up, and sends them out himself. He recently tweeted a photo of all his hard work.

"And it's done.....probably a total of 27-ish hours of taping boxes," Paevey wrote. "THANK YOU....now time to take em to the post, head to the restaurant, and tomorrow, get started on the next."

Paevey played GH's good cop Nathan West from 2013 to 2018. Nathan was Nina's beloved brother and Maxie's husband, killed in the line of duty by his own father, Cesar Faison.
