General Hospital's Tequan Richmond (T.J. Ashford) explains why his alter ego has been somewhat absent recently.
Many General Hospital fans have been scratching their heads over the recent absence of T.J. Ashford, and it's finally clear why he hasn't been on canvas much in recent weeks: his portrayer, Tequan Richmond, has simply been too busy for Port Charles.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, the actor reveals that he is no longer on contract with the show and hasn't popped in as T.J. because he's been busy filming a movie in Michigan (in which he stars and serves as a producer), and prior to that, he was in Chicago, shooting the Showtime pilot The Chi. "I have things lined up a little bit, which is great, but I hope that when I get back [to California], maybe I can come in and do a few days [at GH]," he told SOD. "It would be cool if they sprinkle me in because I'm sure people would like to see Molly [Haley Pullos] and T.J. again and Shawn [Sean Blakemore] -- we never got to continue that storyline -- so of course I would love to do that."
Fortunately, because Richmond remains on recurring status with GH, there's a definite possibility the Molly/T.J./Shawn storyline could continue at some point -- which the Emmy nominee believes fans would like to see. "I get these tweets all the time like, 'How come T.J. wasn't here, how come T.J. wasn't there?' " he says. "It's very sweet."
What do you think about Richmond being dropped to recurring status at GH? Would you like to see more storyline for T.J.? If so, what kind of story would you want written for the character?
