Cameron Mathison has a message for fans about his General Hospital status

Will a new game show gig take Cameron Mathison away from General Hospital? The actor has the answer.

Cameron Mathison might bring Drew Cain to life on General Hospital, but that doesn't mean he's forgotten his career outside soaps. His big daytime break came in 1998 when he landed the breakout role of Ryan Lavery on All My Children. Mathison remained with the soap until 2011 when it left the ABC airwaves, but he has definitely kept himself busy on television since then.

Before returning to the world of soaps, Mathison was the host of The Hallmark Channel's Home and Family for three years while also making quite a few Hallmark movies.

In November of 2023, word came that the actor had just signed a new deal with Great American Family, a new network modeled after Hallmark. Several soap stars made the jump over the last few years, including Ryan Paevey (ex-Nathan West, GH) and Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa Donovan, Days of our Lives), and now Mathison was joining them.

Fan speculation immediately began that the star would leave GH after his contract was up. That speculation reached a fever pitch in early April when news broke that Mathison will be hosting a new show for the Game Show Network called Beat the Bridge, based on the BBC show Bridge of Lies.

Mathison immediately addressed that speculation in his Instagram post announcing the news.

"I've been waiting to share this for a while!" he wrote. "This summer I'll be hosting Beat The Bridge on @gameshownetwork! So excited for you all to see it and so grateful to be a part of the GSN family."

In the comment section, Mathison put GH fan fears to rest and assured them Drew Cain is sticking around Port Charles.

"Got some questions about how this affects General Hospital... it doesn't!" he revealed. I already shot Beat The Bridge last year so Drew isn't going anywhere."

In the current story, Drew is lonely and upset because he just broke up with his girlfriend after throwing himself on his sword and going to prison for her last year. Will a new woman come along to make him forget all about Carly and what she meant to him?

What do you think? Who should be Drew's new love interest, since Cameron Mathison isn't going anywhere? We want to hear from you -- so drop your comments in the Comments section below, tweet about it on Twitter, share it on Facebook, or chat about it on our Message Boards.
