Sonny's replacement hitman is needed no more, which means Evan Hofer's General Hospital life is about to take a turn.
In 2022, a lost and Jason-less Sonny had an opening in his coffee importer business, and Dex Heller had the perfect rsum -- literally. He handed Port Charles's premiere mobster an actual paper rsum for a job as an enforcer (a.k.a. hitman), and Evan Hofer's life as a soap star was born.
On March 28, 2022, Hofer made his first appearance at the GH studios, though it would be more than a month until he made his first on-air appearance as the former soldier Sonny brought into his organization. Of course, viewers later learned that Dex was really working for Sonny's petty son Michael. The younger Quartermaine-Corinthos wanted to bring his father down for not wanting to be married to his mother anymore, and Dex was tasked with gaining evidence on Sonny.
Co-star Tabyana Ali commemorated the day with a photo of Hofer sporting red glasses in her Instagram story. "We're celebrating Evan today," she wrote with the hashtag #sexydexy.

When Hofer met up with Soap Central's Dan J Kroll on the red carpet at the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in December, the actor offered a rundown of all Dex has been through just over the last year.
"Got shot twice, hung from a meat hook, fell in love, getting involved with government contractors who are probably bad, saved Ava's life twice, saved Sonny's life, Sonny saved my life, working with Sonny against Michael, now working to protect Sonny with Michael...and like two double dates."
Since then, Dex's life in the mob has come to a close as Sonny learned what he was up to and, amazingly, still allowed him to live. Now, Dex is about to get a complete character reset, as he's broken up with Josslyn Jacks and received a PCPD job offer from Anna Devane. This only seems fitting as Jason is back and Dex isn't needed to fill an enforcer role.
Will Dex's new life on the right side of the law convince Josslyn to take him back, or will a new lady catch his eye? Stay tuned to find out.
