General Hospital has hired a new actress to take over the role of Valerie Spencer. Brytni Sarpy exited GH earlier this month to join The Young and the Restless.
General Hospital fans wondering the fate of Valerie Spencer now have an answer. The character isn't going anywhere, even though the actress who played her has.
Paulina Bugembe has been cast as Valerie Spencer, according to Soap Opera Digest. The actress began taping last week and says that her first day was "wonderful."
"Everyone was so warm and welcoming that any nerves I had were gone immediately," Bugembe told Digest.

Brytni Sarpy originated the role of Pat Spencer's daughter and Luke Spencer's niece in March of 2015. Earlier this year, Sarpy opted to take on a contract role at The Young and the Restless. Her first Y&R appearance took place last week. A week earlier, Sarpy made her final appearance on GH.
It is unclear if Valerie's presence will be increased or if the character will continue to make sporadic appearances. Ironically, Valerie's story picked up just as Sarpy was preparing to exit.
Look for Bugembe to make her first General Hospital appearance in late April.
