Max Gail (Mike Corbin) and Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) opened up about General Hospital's anniversary and the show's heartbreaking Alzheimer's story on Good Day LA.
Alzheimer's disease has become front and center on daytime soap operas this year. The Young and the Restless delved into a heartbreaking storyline in which the Abbott family struggled with Dina's devastating Alzheimer's diagnosis and eventual decline. And General Hospital is telling a powerful story of its own with the return of Sonny's dad, Mike Corbin, who is also struggling with the progressive disease.
The ABC soap opera has made headlines for its portrayal of the crippling condition that affects millions of families across the nation, and stars Max Gail (Mike Corbin) and Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) are contributing more headlines with their appearance on Good Day LA.
The actors sat with passionate Alzheimer's advocate Maria Shriver to discuss the touching storyline GH has been telling since Sonny's father returned to the canvas earlier this year. The pair also discussed the Women's Alzheimer's Movement and the Move for Minds event they will be taking part in this June.

Upon seeing that her co-stars would be making a Good Day LA appearance, Tamara Braun (Dr. Kim Nero) shared the news and offered her opinion on the way GH is telling its Alzheimer's story.
"That's awesome! This storyline is SO important and so good, @mariashriver special on the disease was outstanding and heartbreaking," she wrote. "Bravo #GH for giving heart, honesty and time to this very important issue."
Says Shriver: "Alzheimer's is the biggest health crisis facing our country today, and it's going to take all of us working together to find the answers and wipe it out. As a daughter of Alzheimer's, I watched my father go from knowing every fact and figure to not even knowing my name. It was an extraordinarily painful experience. Imagine sparing one person that experience. Now imagine sparing a generation. Together we can make that happen."
