Anna Devane is once again single on General Hospital, so who should be the next man on her dance card?
General Hospital seemed to have a good thing going with Anna Devane and Valentin Cassadine. They were wildly popular after a slow-burn romance that finally had Anna admitting she loved Valentin, a man who held a torch for her his entire adult life.
Sadly, that was all blown up last fall when Anna shot Valentin's teenage daughter, Charlotte, when Anna thought Charlotte was an armed intruder in her new apartment. Anna had been stalked for months, and she never imagined that one of her stalkers was her boyfriend's child.
Charlotte survived, but the "Vanna" relationship was doomed. Anna and Valentin broke things off, leaving fans wondering if they will ever be together again.
"I honestly feel like when we did those split-up scenes, they were so well-written in as much as they explained the fact that she just couldn't be with him right now because she sees him as a father first and she still can't forgive herself for what she did," Finola Hughes told Soap Opera Digest. "How do you go back to having a relationship with somebody if you shot their daughter? You can't just go for a burger, you know? It just doesn't seem right...I feel like she thinks she's done the right thing, but there are still feelings there."
If Anna and Valentin still have feelings for one another, there is always a possibility for a reunion -- or Anna can find herself attracted to someone else. She's been getting more friendly with newly returned FBI agent John "Jagger" Cates. They even shared drinks in his hotel room last week. Could a brand-new romance be on the horizon? When asked if that was a possibility, Hughes wasn't sure.
"I don't know, I really don't," the actress said. "But I think it would be interesting to continue to develop more of a law enforcement presence in Port Charles. I think that would be amazing, but I don't know what they have planned."
Whoever Anna ends up with, it's nice to see the character back in action, fighting the bad guys, after a brief detour from law enforcement last year.
