The wait is finally over! Rebecca appeared on the tail end of Friday's GH episode, and her alter ego announced that she's Hayden -- "Jake's" wife.
Former All My Children actress Rebecca (Greenlee Smythe) made her return to soap operas in the best of ways. Several weeks after the fun Twitter announcement that she'd be heading to General Hospital's Port Charles in a "killer role," she debuted at the very end of Friday's episode in quite a cliffhanger moment.
As Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and "Jake" (Billy Miller) embraced, both planning to take their relationship to the next level, they were suddenly interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. Liz pulled herself away from her man to open the door, only to come face-to-face with 's character, Hayden Barns, who claimed to be "Jake's" wife!
Because fans know that "Jake" is really Jason, there's no possible way he could have had a relationship with the feisty brunette -- right? "Well, you will find out about Hayden's motive very soon," teased during a TV Insider interview about that pesky little detail. "I just don't want the fans to hate me. Soap fans get very passionate."
Diehard GH fans are speculating that perhaps Liz's jilted ex, Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst), may be responsible for Hayden's sudden entrance, which certainly puts a crinkle in the otherwise perfect connection between Liz and Jake. But then again, it is a soap opera, so anything is possible. It looks like fans will just have to wait and find out.

, who gave birth to daughter Charlotte Jo Benson last September, is no stranger to soap operas. In addition to a three-year stint as Guiding Light's Michelle Bauer, she played fan favorite Greenlee Smythe on All My Children on and off from 1999 through 2011.
