ABC is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate General Hospital's golden anniversary. The long-running soap will receive its own hourlong tribute of 20/20 airing in April 6.
For the special episode of the ABC news magazine, Katie Couric will travel to the fictional town of Port Charles, New York, to experience first-hand the passion, intrigue, and adventure that has made the daytime soap opera the longest running scripted drama currently on television.
The episode will feature interviews with fan favorites including Tony Geary (Luke Spencer), Genie Francis (Laura Spencer), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Jack Wagner (Frisco Jones), Rick Springfield (Noah Drake), executive producer Frank Valentini, and many other GH cast members.
There will also be a segment on some of the former General Hospital stars who have gone on to find even bigger fame in primetime and film, including Demi Moore, John Stamos, Kristin Davis, and Richard Simmons, and one that looks at GH's impact on the pop charts.
General Hospital The Real Soap Dish: A Special Edition of 20/20 airs on ABC on Saturday, April 6 (9pm to 10pm Eastern). Check your local listings for the channel in your area.
