With his time as General Hospital villain Peter August over, Wes Ramsey thanks fans for their support during "one helluva ride." Plus, the actor's colleagues weigh in with their thoughts on his dramatic exit.
Wednesday's episode of General Hospital saw Wes Ramsey's villainous alter ego, Peter August, finally bite the dust after Felicia (Kristina Wagner) smacked him on the head with a tire iron. While the soap community discusses whether or not Cesar Faison and Alex Devane's son is really, really dead this time -- like, for sure dead -- Ramsey has seemingly confirmed his exit. At least for now!
The Kentucky native took to Instagram with a photo of himself presumably exiting the ABC soap's studio, along with a caption that expresses his gratitude to the audience and powers that be.
"Thank you for taking the journey with me," he shared. "To those who were kind and supportive, my heart has felt inspired by you. To my friends and family -- and the fans everywhere -- it has been an honor to give everything I had to this, and I will never forget how fun it was to entertain you."

Ramsey also gave a shout-out to his colleagues at GH, sharing, "To the cast and crew, thank you for welcoming me into your world and for giving me a chance to play with you each day. To the writers, producers and directors, thank you for trusting me with all we did together. It was one helluva ride... "
Several of Ramsey's GH co-stars weighed in with their opinions about his exit and shared their well-wishes for his future. The actor's real-life significant other, Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos), told her beau that he "kicked ass," while Katelyn MacMullen (Willow Tait) enthused that the actor is "amazing," and Briana Nicole Henry (ex-Jordan Ashford) expressed that she's excited to see where Ramsey lands next.
Meanwhile, Finola Hughes, whose Anna Devane thought for some time that she was Peter's mother, shared a lengthy tribute to Ramsey on her Twitter page.
"You are Renaissance man, a consummate professional," the actress wrote. "Thank you, Wes, for being a great scene partner. Thank you for bringing your 'A' game each and every day to General Hospital. It's been a pleasure exploring all the strange grey areas of a story where the villains were sometimes the victims, and the heroes weren't always in the right."
She continued, "You trod some difficult terrain and carried it with grace and dignity. Your chilling poise as the character, and transparent wound, made working opposite you fulfilling and always surprising. To everything the road ahead brings you, to the moon."
Ramsey's Peter (a.k.a. Henrik Faison) began causing trouble in and around Port Charles in 2017, following in the footsteps of his father, Cesar Faison, who did the same in the 1980s and 1990s. Peter's reign of terror supposedly came to an end in June of 2021, when Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) pushed the villain down a flight of stairs, leading to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) subsequently declaring Peter dead.
However, just as you can't keep a good man down, you can't keep a bad one down, either, and Peter showed up alive and well later that summer, with Ramsey declaring on social media, "Well, well, well... Let the games commence!"
In addition to his five-year run as GH's Peter, Ramsey starred as Days of our Lives' Owen Kent in 2009 and as Guiding Light's Sam Spencer from 2000 to 2004, with a short return stint as Sam in 2008. His other credits include Sidetracked, Venice the Series, Pretty Little Liars, CSI: Miami, The Playboy Club, Charmed, and Luis.
How do you feel about Wes Ramsey's time as Peter coming to an end? Do you think Peter is really dead this time? Do you want him to be dead? If so, would you support Wes Ramsey returning to GH in a different role?
