The next generation of the Ward family is headed to Port Charles. General Hospital has announced that it has cast a young actress in the role of Maya Ward, Edward Quartermaine's great granddaughter.

As previously reported by Soap Central and hinted at in recent storyline, General Hospital is bringing the Ward family back to the forefront.

Annie Ilonzeh has been cast as Maya Ward, Edward Quartermaine's great granddaughter. For those of you trying to keep track of the branches of the family tree, Justus' sister is Maya's mother, Faith Ward.

Ilonzeh is a newcomer to daytime, but she has several television credits under her belt. She has appeared in How I Met Your Mother, Do Not Disturb, and the primetime soap Melrose Place.

In addition to television work, Ilonzeh has previously appeared in two feature films: Miss March and He's Just Not That Into You. She'll also appear in the fantasy adventure movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

Maya will interact heavily with the Quartermaines. Judging by Tracy's initial opposition to Edward reaching out to Maya, there are sure to be fireworks. Maya will also be working as an intern at the hospital But, there will be more to Maya than meets the eye.

A show rep teases that Maya will "catch the eye of a Spencer..." but warns that she has "no patience for bad boys since something happened to her in the past."

Ilonzeh first airs on March 31.
