Dusay's stay as Alex extended

Marj Dusay's (Alexandra Spaulding) stay in Springfield has been extended. Dusay re-joined the cast in December 2002 after actress Joan Collins had to bow out as Alexandra. Dusay was originally slated to finish off Collins' stint, however, the show's new head writer and executive producer have extended the character's storyline. Long-time viewers know that Dusay is not a stranger in Springfield -- they also know that she's not the only other actress to portray Alexandra. Beverlee McKinsey originated the role of Alex in 1984 and held down the role for eight years before leaving in 1992. Dusay joined the show the following year and remained through March 1997. She then appeared sporadically in 1998 and 1999, before making her return in December 2002.

A spokesperson for Guiding Light declined to comment how much longer Dusay will be seen on-screen.
