Guiding Light would have turned 84 this week, and to mark the special anniversary, Grant Aleksander (Phillip Spaulding) and Beth Chamberlin (Beth Raines) are joining up for an online reunion.
One of Springfield's most popular supercouples is getting back together! Guiding Light's Grant Aleksander (Phillip Spaulding) and Beth Chamberlin (Beth Raines) are set for a virtual reunion that will be taking place this week.
The pair's reunion comes at an important moment for the CBS soap opera: had GL not been canceled in 2009, January 25 of this year would have been the show's 84th birthday. (As viewers know, the dramatic lives of Springfield residents first came to fans as a radio program that made its debut in 1937 before moving to television in 1952.)
Fans can join Aleksander, who took on the role of Phillip in 1982 and played him for 27 years, and Chamberlin, who took on the role of Beth in 1989 and played her for two decades, on The Locher Room by following this YouTube link on Thursday, January 28, at 3PM EST / 12PM PST.

Aleksander and Chamberlin's upcoming reunion isn't the only nostalgic Guiding Light material available to fans. Soap Central recently spoke with Lawrence Saint-Victor (Remy Boudreau) about some of his GL memories and whether or not he thinks the CBS soap would be a good candidate for a primetime reboot.
