Actress Argentina Brunetti (ex-Filomena) died of natural causes on December 20th at age 98. The actress, who appeared on General Hospital as Robin's grandmother in 1985 and 1986, was an accomplished and well-known character actress. Outside of daytime, she will be best remembered for her role as Mrs. Martini in the holiday classic, It's a Wonderful Life.
Argentina was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on August 31st, 1907. She had her first encounter with show biz at the age of three with a walk on role in the opera, Cavalleria Rusticana. She would later follow in her mother's footsteps in the theater performing supporting roles on stages throughout Europe, and South America.
In 1937, she was placed under contract to MGM pictures and began dubbing the voices of Jeanette MacDonald and Norma Shearer in Italian.
Throughout her varied career she has also written and performed in daily radio shows, authored books, wrote music and acted in over 60 television programs and 95 movies.
Argentina was a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association , The Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television & Radio Artists and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
