Kimberly McCullough will tape her General Hospital exit later this month -- and why Robin leaves town will leave viewers shocked. The actress, who returned in September 2013, originated the role of Robin in 1985.
When ABC announced last August that Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio) would be returning to General Hospital, some fans immediately questioned how long the actress would remain with the show. Though the show assured that McCullough's return wouldn't be a one-day stunt, the duration of her return was very much unspecified.
Now, Soap Central has learned that McCullough has only a handful of episodes left to tape before she makes her exit.
"I only have two more weeks left -- [this] week and next," McCullough revealed at the annual Television Critics Association reception.

In February 2012, McCullough exited GH to "pursue her dream of directing full-time." She then completed a successful Kickstarter campaign for her first project, Creve Coeur, MO. (a.k.a. Broken Heart, Missouri), described as a dark comedy exploring three generations of love stories and the darker side of the white picket fence in Middle America circa 1993. Filming will take place later this year.
McCullough also revealed that she will be observing at Grey's Anatomy next month and that she's "hoping, hoping, hoping, praying" that she'll be allowed to direct an episode of the popular ABC primetime medical drama.
McCullough is quick to note that she very much loves General Hospital and will certainly be willing to return to the show when her schedule permits.
In related news, Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) will make a guest appearance on GH next week.
Fans who suspected that Sabrina's pregnancy would be the reason Robin would flee town will be in for a surprise. The character will exit because of another -- unexpected -- character.
McCullough originated the role of Robin Scorpio in 1985 when she was just seven years of age. McCullough has earned two Daytime Emmy wins during her time with General Hospital. The actress was named Outstanding Younger Actress in 1989 and 1996. McCullough's character also briefly crossed over to All My Children in 2001.
