General Hospital icon Anthony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer) opens up about a possible return to Port Charles and whether or not he was his best self while starring on the soap.
It's been nearly four years since daytime icon Anthony Geary left his role as General Hospital's Luke Spencer, and many fans of the ABC soap opera still haven't gotten used to his absence from Port Charles. He did briefly relieve the sadness when he made a cameo appearance in May 2017 for a storyline honoring Jane Elliott's (Tracy Quartermaine) exit from the series, but the reappearance was all too short, leaving viewers hoping he'll bring Luke back to the fold once again.
Unfortunately, Geary still doesn't have any plans to return to Los Angeles, having packed his bags and moved to Amsterdam upon his exit from GH in 2015. And from what it sounds like in a recent interview he did with Soaps In Depth, fans shouldn't hold their breath on that Luke return.
Though Geary tells the publication he tries to keep an open mind about everything -- even a return to GH -- he's grateful that he no longer has to live the life of an actor.

"Not to have to make a living scratching and clawing your way to the top is such a relief," he shares. "I think maybe I did that more than I realized. At the time you're doing it, you don't realize what a battle you're waging, how exhausting it is, and how much damage you can do. I look back on it all now and wonder how necessary it was for me to be so combative."
Geary joined the cast of GH in 1978 and earned an impressive 16 Daytime Emmy Nominations during his career, taking home the trophy eight times. Upon his retirement, he was honest about his disinterest in returning to soap operas and has felt the same ever since. However, he points out that he never says never.
"One of the things I've learned from being on the planet 70 years is to say 'I don't do this' or 'I don't do that' just limits your options," he says. "I don't rule anything out."
