A dramatic daddy-daughter dilemma is highlighted in the newly released trailer for Victoria Gotti: My Father's Daughter, the mob film starring General Hospital's Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).
Fathers have been eyeing up their daughters' suitors since the beginning of time, but the all-too-common scenario takes on a completely different feel when the father is a notorious mobster, as shown in the trailer for Lifetime's upcoming film Victoria Gotti: My Father's Daughter.
The TV movie is based on the lives of real-life mob boss John Gotti, played by General Hospital's Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), and his daughter, Victoria (Chelsea Frei). The newly released teaser trailer for the film shows Victoria struggling with her father over her relationship with her high school sweetheart, Carmine Agnello.
"Carmine is not for you," John sternly warns his daughter, adding that the boyfriend in question is "a common street guy."

"And what do people say about you?" Victoria haughtily replies.
Victoria got her way in the end, but only in her choice of partner. After marrying Carmine, she vowed to reject the mafioso life -- but revealed in her memoir that she later found out her husband was secretly a member of her father's crime family.
After various scrapes with the law, Carmine was charged with racketeering and arson in 2000 and pled guilty in order to receive a shorter sentence. Victoria and Carmine divorced while he was in prison in 2003, and he was released in 2008.
John Gotti went to prison in 1992 for thirteen murders, including the slaying of his Gambino family predecessor outside a New York steakhouse. He died of cancer in prison in 2002.
Benard is already receiving rave reviews for his portrayal of Gotti, including praise from Victoria Gotti herself, who tweeted: "Maurice Bernard is great! Ladies get ready!! To create. Write exec produce narrate and star in was an incredible experience!"
Victoria Gotti: My Father's Daughter premieres on Saturday, February 9, on Lifetime.
