Word on the streets is that JCPenney is closing hundreds of its outlets in the coming weeks. According to media reports, the department store chain, which is popular for selling apparel, jewelry, and beauty products, will join other popular corporations like Macy’s and Best Buy in an "Easter Shopping Blackout.”
As per a report published by The Mirror on April 4, 2025, the reason for the 24-hour closure on April 20, 2025, is so that many of their employees can spend time with family on the Easter holiday. Customers are advised to confirm closing hours with their local store.
However, other businesses like Dollar General, CVS, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Walgreens and Home Depot are choosing to stay open on Easter to provide goods and services for last-minute shoppers.
These companies are expected to close on Easter Sunday:
- Target
- Costco
- Aldi
- Sam's Club
- Publix
- JCPenney
- Kohl's
- Macy's
- H-E-B
- Michaels
- Lowe's
- Best Buy
- Marshalls
