More details on Serge Brunschwig’s career as a fashion executive and achievements

Serge Brunschwig was born in Arles, South of France, and schooled at the Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications, and Sciences-PO in Paris. His career as an executive began in 1984 when he joined Schlumberger/Gemalto.

In 1988, he moved to Mc Kinsey & Company and from there to Socar-Smurfit. He joined the LVMH group in 1995 as the president of Louis Vuitton Asia-Pacific in Hong Kong. He was later named CEO of Sephora Europe in 2000 and took on the role of Managing Director at Louis Vuitton Malletier in 2002.

He continued his journey in LVMH and was appointed the CEO of Celine in 2006. He joined Dior in 2008 as Chief Operating Officer of Christian Dior Couture and was named the President of Dior Homme in 2015.

He was appointed Chairman and CEO of Fendi in 2018 and maintained the position till June 2024. He was replaced as Fendi CEO by Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou.

In an interview with Vogue Business in June 2023, the veteran executive expressed his thoughts on what made luxury brands thrive:

“In luxury, I think there are two very important aspects. The first is to understand who you are and who you have always been…. But then, what is just as important is the capacity to surprise. To be more of the same but never the same. Because the cemeteries are full of brands that did not have that capacity and are not here anymore.”

Serge Brunschwig succeeds Luca Lo Curzio as the CEO of Jil Sanders. According to WWD, Lo Curzio might be joining K-Way as a Chief Executive Officer.
