Kody Phillips is an American fashion designer and stylish. It is also the name of his brand, which makes street-style shirts and denim jeans. According to Kody Phillips' website, he describes himself and the brand as:

Phillips' latest work included designing a pair of boxer shorts for American professional boxer, Edgar Berlanga. He wore the shorts in his fight against Puerto Rican professional boxer, Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz, on March 16, 2025.

Edgar Berlanga has always fought in the ring with style and continues to do so in his match with Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz. For this match, he chose Kody Phillips to design a custom jacket and boxing shorts for him to don on fight night.

Berlanga's outfit for the night did not consist of a just black custom lasso jacket and black satin cargo shorts. Both the pieces were covered in 5000 crystals that were hand-applied. They spelled "Chosen One" on the back of the jacket and the front of the shorts. Extra details included the initials of Berlanga (E.B) and Kody Phillips (K.P) on the lapels.

The jacket and shorts had certain Kody-coded elements to them. For example, the black rope and red rope trim on the jacket and shorts are similar to the "Lasso" shirts he has made in the past.

As for the shorts, they are just an updated version of his Fancy Boxer Shorts. It has a similar pocket design to the cargo pants found in Phillips' store.

In an interview with Complex, Berlanga shared why he chose Phillips to create a custom look for him. He said,

"I wanted to make sure I looked fly, but that I was still trying out different things... This one is much more classy and high fashion, so it's different for me."

Kody Phillips also shared his thoughts with Complex regarding the look he created. He said:

"The Lasso Jacket has been one of our most anticipated pieces, so it was cool to make the first custom one for something like this."

Phillips added:

"I really like a challenge...Being able to intersect fashion and sports to create something that is luxurious but also functional was really cool," he concluded.
