Kim Jones, a popular designer, has stepped down from his role at Dior. Jones was the artistic director of Menswear at Dior from 2018 to 2025. He also succeeded Karl Lagerfeld as designer of women’s haute couture and clothing at Fendi in 2020.
After a successful couple of years and a decoration as Officer of the British Empire in 2020, Jones stepped down from his role at Fendi in 2020. His last project for Dior was the Dior Homme Fall/Winter 2025 runway show held on January 25, 2025.
The show’s collection was well received in the fashion community and earned him the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur award at the Le Laurent. Jones as a creative director for Dior, was known for his talent in blending streetwear with high fashion, and for his successful collaborations with brands like Nike and Cactus Jack.
He was also praised for his experimental designs and elaborate runway staging. The 51-year-old designer sent a heartfelt message to the House of Dior as he stepped down:
"It was a true honor to have been able to create my collections within the House of Dior, a symbol of absolute excellence. I express my deep gratitude to my studio and the ateliers who have accompanied me on this wonderful journey. They have brought my creations to life. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the artists and friends I have met through my collaborations. Lastly, I feel sincere gratitude towards Bernard and Delphine Arnault, who have given me their full support,” Jones added.
Delphine Arnault, Chairman and CEO of Dior, in a statement released on January 31, 2025, appreciated Jones and his design studio for their contribution to Dior:
“I am extremely grateful for the remarkable work done by Kim Jones, his studio, and the ateliers. With all his talent and creativity, he has constantly reinterpreted the house’s heritage with genuine freedom of tone and surprising, highly desirable artistic collaborations.”
More about Kim Jones’ work as a designer and his achievements over the years
Jones, a graduate of the Central St Martins College of Art and Design, launched his eponymous brand in 2003. Kim Jones collaborated with Hugo Boss, Mulberry, Umbro, and Pastelle.
He got the role of Creative Director for the Alfred Dunhill brand in 2008 and discontinued creating under his eponymous brand after his appointment. In 2011, Jones replaced Paul Helbers as the style director of the men’s ready-to-wear section at Louis Vuitton.
His time with LV would be remembered by the Louis Vuitton x Supreme collaboration, which shook the fashion industry and marked one of the first ventures of luxury houses into the streetwear industry. In January 2018, Jones's leaving LV was officially announced.
In 2018, Jones was announced as the creative director of Dior Homme and debuted his first collection for the fashion house in June of the same year. In 2025, the celebrated designer stepped down from the role.
From 2020 to 2024, Kim Jones was the artistic director of Fendi and spearheaded many eventful releases during his time. He is credited with creating a modern look for the brand while maintaining its traditional appeal.
Word on the streets is that Kim Jones might secure an appointment at Burberry, however, no official announcement has been made to this effect. Stay tuned for more updates.
