Nike Shox TL “Black/University Red” shoes offer Deadpool vibes

The new Nike Shox TL “Black/University Red” rendition bears a resemblance to the superhero outfit of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool. The gradient effect added to the sneaker’s appearance seems evocative of Deadpool.

Firstly, the Nike Shox TL “Black/University Red” sneaker features a black nylon mesh toe area, which is surrounded by gradient black and red fabric. The mesh material of the toe box forms the tongue flaps, which are fitted with black eyelets, holding the lace set of a similar color.

The lateral sides of the upper are covered with a plastic cage-like structure, which is characteristic of the Shox TL model. Furthermore, the branding accents appear on the tongue flaps and on the footbed of the pair. The inner lining is achieved using a similar black mesh material as seen on the top.

On the rear side, the black heel counters are emblazoned with red insignia. Rounding out the shoe is the Shox sole, which is entirely covered in black.

For those unaware, Nike Shox runners arrived in the market in 2000, titled Shox R4. Following this, the brand presented the Shox R4+ model. Finally, Swoosh’s design team created the Shox TL model in 2003. Ever since its inception, the sneaker model has stayed in the market boasting several collaborations and independent colorways under its name. The brand’s website talks about the sneaker model in the following way:

“In 2003, the idea would become a reality in the form of the Shox TL. TL for “Total,” the Shox TL is still heralded by many runners for its smooth ride. Aggressive and in-your-face, the Shox TL quickly became a Shox fan favorite.”

In addition to the aforementioned rendition, a slew of other Shox TL colorways appeared online in the past few weeks of 2025. The iterations such as “Vapor Green/Black,” “Lyon Blue,” and “Velvet Brown/Denim Turquoise” are also anticipated to be dropped this year. These pairs will be accessible via the websites and offline marketplaces of Nike.
