Kanye West has courted controversy yet again with a new post on X. It would seem that the rapper, who only days ago announced that he was taking a hiatus from X, has decided to remain on the social media platform.
On February 28, 2025, West announced that he was looking for Swastika chain designs and urged jewelers to submit prototypes to a designated email account. Swastika designs are popularly associated with Hitler and the N*zis.
The rapper tweeted:
“For all jewelers, I’m looking for Swastika designs. Please submit to [email protected].”
Ye’s post has stirred the pot, and Netizens have reacted, with some expressing frustration with the rapper’s relentless antics. @realshawnmchugh tweeted in response;
“I don’t even know what to say to this, it’s gotten too crazy at this point.”
Other X users mirrored the sentiment with their tweets:
“Bro is just out here fishing for controversy again,” @bald_research stated.
“Bro doesn’t know when to stop,” @Lord_GT15 added.
“You’ve lost it, mate,” @FreedomToType tweeted.
Some Netizens explained that the Swastika symbols, apart from their N*zi affiliations, are also Buddhist symbols that represent peace, prosperity, and good luck.
“I love that many people are offended by this. The symbol actually stands for prosperity, peace, and good luck. Unfortunately, too many people only associate it with Nazi Germany and Hitler. Do ya thang Ye!” @Tha_ReStLeSs_1 stated.
“I’m really hoping you’re referring to the Buddhist symbol of peace and love instead of the German one,” @TheLifeLoophole added.
More Netizens commented on West's use of the Swastika symbol.
“While it’s entertaining what you tweet, it’s really disturbing, lol,” @RealWuppi stated.
“Kanye West will be remembered as one of the greatest artists who destroyed his own legacy,” @suayrez noted.
“Bro out here just trolling everyone,” @Gtstocks06 reacted.
Kanye West sold the Swastika shirt on his website alongside other controversial merchandise
The rapper’s latest tweet comes after he announced an indefinite hiatus on the platform on February 25, 2025. Kanye West compared his planned departure to Michael Jordan’s retirement from the NBA. The rapper tweeted:
“I quit Twitter for now. They just deleted my last tweet. Jordan leaving the NBA.”
On February 7, 2025, the Famous hitmaker broke the internet when he declared himself a N*zi and expressed his love for Hitler. He continued his series of shocking tweets by posting a shirt with Swastika graphics and putting it up for sale on the Yeezy website.
Other controversial merchandise that Kanye West sold on the Yeezy website include shirts inscribed with “White Lives Matter” and multiple colors of crewneck shirts with “Sean Combs” emblazoned across their fronts.
He released the shirts in collaboration with embattled media mogul, Sean Diddy Combs, allegedly charged with s*x trafficking, conspiracy for racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The sale of the Swastika merchandise led to the removal of the Yeezy website from the Shopify platform.
