A$AP Rocky becomes the first-ever Creative Director of Ray-ban: Everything we know so far

A$AP Rocky, aka Rakim Mayers, has joined leading eyewear brand Ray-ban as their first creative director. A$AP Rocky, who recently got acquitted of charges of assault with a firearm, will take over the creative helm at the brand and oversee the brand’s evolution phase.

The brand announced Mayers’ appointment via a press release on February 21, 2025, which stated:

"Fashion innovator, entrepreneur, and multi-hyphenate artist A$AP Rocky. On the heels of his fourth studio album, Don't Be Dumb, A$AP takes the helm at Ray-Ban as Creative Director. A visionary partnership bringing together two icons of contemporary culture, he joins in a critical time in the evolution of Ray-Ban,"

The statement continued:

"A$AP's influence will extend beyond collections to store design, campaign direction, and more. Watch out for the special drop-in in Spring 2025 to get your hands on a pair designed by the artist himself."

President of Ray-Ban, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, welcomed A$AP Rocky to the eyewear company and described him as a visionary artist and creator, adding that the multi-hyphenate artist’s ability to push boundaries aligned with the brand’s vision:

"Today, we are welcoming A$AP Rocky into our family; he’s a visionary artist and creator. His ability to push the boundaries of the diverse worlds he explores aligns with the Ray-Ban DNA. We are reinforcing the brand’s values of innovation, pioneering spirit, and courage. Let the future begin!”

Myers will spearhead the brand’s creative projects, guide its vision and future projects, and redesign Ray-Ban's creative spaces.

The rapper, who has been spotted recently in some of the eyewear brand’s creations, expressed in a statement that he was excited to be a part of Ray-Ban’s innovative journey:

“I’ve always admired Ray-Ban’s ability to stay true to its roots while constantly evolving. I’m excited to be part of the strong heritage and develop the next chapter for an iconic brand like Ray-Ban.”

Word on the streets is that the rapper will unveil his first project with the eyewear brand in April 2025. According to Billboard Magazine’s report of February 21, 2025, Rocky will create new versions of Ray-Ban’s signature silhouettes and introduce eyewear with gold plating and black lenses. This collection, dubbed the Blacked Out collection, reportedly fuses classic design with modern elements.
